MainStream GS’ (MSGS) client is one the largest data center companies worldwide with a presence in over 30 markets and 15 countries. Our client had a requirement to develop a suite of IT professional services, service offerings to provide greater value to their global data center clients. MSGS was engaged to develop the IT professional services offerings strategy and execution plan for this new technology initiative.
Actions:
MainStream GS (MSGS) assembled and deployed a cross-functional team of data center, network and IT Business Analyst experts to conduct this assessment, strategy development and execution roadmap and recommendations. The MSGS’ team conducted technical and business analysis of the current and anticipated future data center and networking technical solutions requirements and together with the client’s staff designed a portfolio for new IT infrastructure solutions offerings and a strategy for bringing these offerings to their clients and the broader market. Through MSGS’ analysis and facilitation, our client positioned itself to execute on the strategic recommendations to accelerate customer adoption of their colocation IT infrastructure services. The MSGS team interviewed more than two dozen client technical and IT business leaders, toured and analyzed existing data center layouts and developed a strategy and execution plan to optimize the adoption of a new portfolio of IT Infrastructure Services. These services include Disaster Recovery, Cloud Enablement, Cloud Optimization, Hybrid Cloud Deployment, Network Assessment and Design, and Physical Data Center Consolidation. MSGS’s initial engagement completed a technical and business plan roadmap for our client to utilize.
MSGS also developed an IT technical solutions capabilities tool, which was used to evaluate adding IT technical delivery consulting partners to Equinix’s IT Infrastructure Services. Specific focus was applied to IT Disaster Recovery, Cloud Enablement, Cloud Optimization, Hybrid Cloud Deployment, Network Assessment and Design, and Physical Data Center Consolidation
Results:
The Data Center & Network Solutions Analysis & Recommendations was completed and the following outcomes were achieved for the client:
A clear and documented understanding of the new types of IT Professional Services solutions offerings that could be brought to our client’s current customers and a strategy execution plan for how the new IT Professional Services solutions offerings could be deployed successfully across the broader Data Center market
For each of the following IT Professional Services Solutions Offerings including IT Disaster Recovery, Cloud Enablement, Cloud Optimization, Hybrid Cloud Deployment, Network Assessment and Design, and Physical Data Center Consolidation an execution roadmap was outlined on how to best realize the opportunity for our client and their customers
The client was able to leverage the learning from this engagement to move out on an initial strategy execution plan to launch this new IT Professional Services solutions portfolio for their clients and the broader market opportunity
